FAQs

Got questions? We’ve got answers

Karting

What should I wear?

All of our tracks are indoors, so you don’t need to worry about the rain! But you should wear what is right for the temperature on the day. If it is hot outside, it will be hot inside our tracks. So wear shorts and t-shirts.  If it is cold outside, it will be cold inside our tracks. So wear jeans and a hoody.

You will be given race suits to wear over the top of what you are wearing. Please ensure you are wearing closed toe shoes. Trainers are ideal. NO Ballet slippers, heels or flip flops.

Do I need to attend with my child?

All Under 16 karting customers must be accompanied by a responsible adult who is over the age of 18 and who will stay with the Under 16 for the duration of the event.

The adult does not need to race with the Under 16, but the Under 16 will not be permitted to race unless they have a responsible adult with them who can stay at the venue for the duration of the event.

Do I need a driving licence to race?

You don’t need a driver’s licence to drive a go kart!…We will give everyone a full race briefing before you get in the karts and then once you are in the karts, run through some safety checks to ensure you are confident to race!

What is the minimum age and height limit?

For adult events, drivers must be over 16. For children’s/family events, all drivers need to be a minimum of 8 years old and over 125cm tall to race.
At Birmingham (City) all drivers must be a minimum of 8 years old and over 147cm tall.
For “Bambino” events (only available at York) drivers must be 4-8 years old.

Do you have a weight limit?

There isn’t a specific limit on our karts. However, if you are particularly tall or heavy, driving may be uncomfortable. Though there is no hard and fast rule, anyone over 6 foot 4 or over 17 stone may find it a bit uncomfortable. We are happy for people to come down and get fitted in the karts, before their event to avoid embarrassment

Are kids and adults on the same track?

If you are booking into one of our Karting 30 sessions, we race Adult only (Aged 16+)groups with other adult groups only. Mixed Groups or groups with children only will race with other family groups. Just book your group mix and we will put you in the right session. We also run age specific formats such as Cadet Club (Which will be Under 16’s only) and Unlimited Racing and Grand Prix events which will involve drivers 16+ only.

Is there a maximum number of people to book or minimum?

There is no minimum number to book into any of our Open sessions.

I have a medical condition. Can I race?

Go karting is not recommended for drivers with heart problems, epilepsy or any other conditions where exertion, or sudden braking or bumping would cause an issue. Any conditions that would prevent you from acquiring a driving licence would likely prevent you from being able to race.

Do you have Public Liability Insurance and Risk Assessments?

Yes, we do. If your business/school/youth group require those documents, please email info@teamworkskarting.com or speak to the Event co-ordinator who booked your event and we can send those over.

How fast do your karts go?

Our karts are fast! Up to 40 mph for our adult karts and 25mph for our cadet karts

Can we drink during our event?
