Karting events are full of high-speed action, tight corners, and exhilarating moments that are definitely worth capturing. Whether you’re a budding photographer or a proud parent wanting to preserve the memories, knowing how to take great photos can make all the difference. Here are some essential tips to help you capture the best moments at a Teamworks Karting event.

Know the Track

Before you start snapping, familiarise yourself with our tracks. Every one of our nation-wide locations has a different track layout, with a variety of interesting corners, straights and potential overtaking spots – so it’s worth considering where you want to position yourself in order to get the best shots. Sharp turns and long straights are usually the places where the most exciting action happens, so speak to a member of our team about finding a safe – and interesting – place to position yourself.

Need for Shutter Speed

Karting is all about speed, and to freeze the action, you’ll need to use a fast shutter speed. Look at your camera settings and investigate how to adjust your shutter speed – you’ll need to select one of at least 1/1000th of a second in order to capture our karts in sharp focus. Changing your shutter speed will help you avoid blurry images, and ensure that every detail is crisp and clear.

Invest in a Helmet Camera

For an immersive and personal perspective, consider investing in one of the helmet cameras available at Teamworks Karting. At just £9 per person, a great price isn’t the only reason to consider adding one to your next race.  Our Helmet Cameras will record your entire experience, so you won’t miss a moment – especially those thrilling overtakes on the track.

Capture the moment in full HD with our state-of-the-art, wide-angle video cameras, mounted safely on your helmet for karting and simulator racing, with the option to transfer the camera to a vest if you’re partaking in some laser tag while you’re here. After the event, you’ll receive a code to download your footage and keep it forever.

Booking a Camera

You can book on the day, but due to high demand we recommend pre-booking, which you can do online when you book a new event. If you’ve already booked, and would like to add a helmet camera to your booking, just reach out to the Events team and they’ll be happy to help.

Capture the Emotions

Karting isn’t just about the track – it’s about the racers. Make sure you’re capturing the emotions of the drivers and spectators. The intense concentration before the race, the joy of crossing the finishing line, and the camaraderie among the racers are all moments worth capturing, guaranteed to add a personal touch to your photo collection.

Don’t be afraid to experiment with different angles to help you capture the mood. Low-angle shots can make karts look more dramatic and powerful, while high-angle shots give a great overview of the track. Try shooting through gaps in the fencing to add depth and context to your photos.

Use Continuous Shooting Mode

Action shots call for quick reflexes, and sometimes a single shot isn’t enough to capture the perfect moment. Use your camera’s continuous shooting mode to take a burst of photos in rapid succession. This will increase your chance of getting the ideal shot, where everything aligns perfectly.

By following these tips, you’ll be well on your way to capturing stunning photos that showcase the thrill and excitement of your next event at Teamworks Karting. Whether you’re using a professional camera, your iPhone, or a helmet-mounted video camera from Teamworks Karting, you’ll thank yourself for preserving those unforgettable moments forever. Happy snapping!
