At Teamworks Karting, we’re not just about high-speed thrills, we’re also deeply committed to making a positive impact in the communities we serve. For several years, we’ve proudly partnered with the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme to bring nutritious meals, and enriching activities to children across York, Birmingham, Dudley, and Northampton. This past summer was no exception, as we once again hosted a series of HAF events that left a lasting impression on thousands of young lives.
Summer Support
Our involvement with the HAF programme reached new heights this summer, particularly in Birmingham, where we were honoured to partner with Birmingham Children’s Trust for the Summer Spectacular programme. Throughout August, Teamworks Karting welcomed more than 3,500 children in care, providing them with unforgettable experiences that went far beyond just go-karting.
The Summer Spectacular wasn’t just about racing around the track; it was a holistic programme designed to enrich young lives. Our visitors took part in a huge range of activities, from sports to arts and crafts, all while enjoying healthy, nutritious meals. We had everything from visits from famous Olympians to poetry classes, making sure every child had something they could get involved in and enjoy.
Preet Gill, MP for Edgbaston, visited our Birmingham venue to see the programme in action, and her words of praise meant the world to us:
“The happiness and excitement were plain to see on the children’s faces, and I sincerely hope Teamworks Karting and the Trust keep up the great work,” she said. “Fundamentally, we need great programmes like this to build relationships with young people, especially those who are excluded from school and need more support.”
This summer, we also had the pleasure of hosting the BYSA (Birmingham Youth Sports Academy) summer camp, which brought over 150 young people to experience karting, laser tag, and our F1 Arcade Simulator. This incredible opportunity was made possible thanks to Street Games and Bring It On Brum. Simone Schehtman, Founding Director of Teamworks Karting Ltd, expressed her gratitude:
“BYSA summer camp took over 150 young people to experience karting, laser tag, and F1 Arcade Simulator thanks to Street Games and Bring It On Brum. Also, a special thanks to Teamworks (Simone & Bobby) for making this happen, who are based in Digbeth.”
Making a Difference Across Communities
While our Birmingham venue was a hub of activity this summer, our work with the HAF programme extended across York, Dudley, and Northampton as well. Each of these locations offered a similar array of activities and support, ensuring that children aged 6 to 16 who receive free school meals had access to interesting experiences during the holidays.
For many of these children, the HAF programme is more than just a way to spend their time, it’s a vital resource that provides structure, support, and positive interactions during a time when school-provided meals and activities are not available. We’re proud to play a role in helping to bridge this gap and offer opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach for these young people.
Continuing Our Commitment: Partner with Us
Our work with the HAF programme is something we’re incredibly proud of, and we’re committed to continuing this important work. We believe that every child deserves the chance to play, learn, and grow in a supportive environment, and we’re dedicated to providing that opportunity, not just during the summer but throughout the year.
As we look ahead, we want to invite community groups and organisations in York, Birmingham, Dudley, and Northampton to partner with us. If you’re looking for a venue to support your programmes or initiatives, we’d love to work with you. At Teamworks Karting, we’re offering our facilities at cost price to ensure that as many children as possible can benefit from the experiences we provide.
Simone Schehtman, Teamworks founder said it best:
“After a difficult 18 months that young people across our city and wider region have endured, this month will be packed with great excitement, enrichment, and action, enabling well-being, feel-good and unforgettable positive experiences. A month of fun and at last—something to celebrate!”
Teamworks Karting is more than just a place for fun and games—it’s a community partner dedicated to making a difference in the lives of young people. If you’re interested in partnering with us or learning more about our involvement in the HAF programme, please reach out to us. Together, we can create unforgettable experiences and support the well-being of children in our communities.
