TEAMWORKS HUB

Our Birmingham (City) venue has long been an exciting hub for young people in Birmingham, used by schools, youth groups, CiCs and The Children’s Trust. In particular, we have been a proud partner with the DfE’s Holiday Activity & Food scheme.

The evolution of the venue now includes partnering with stakeholders across the City and wider region  – including City Councils, WMCA, DWP, local businesses, FE Colleges, CiCs, The King’s Trust, West Midlands Police VRP. Additionally the partnership with Springpod brings on board the UK’s leading provider of virtual work experience, to provide a safe and friendly hub where young people can develop confidence, resilience, employability skills, learn, participate, contribute, feel valued and have some fun along the way.

Pathway to better futures:

The Teamworks Hub delivers immersive engagement and support on employability skills, confidence & resilience, on a one- to-one and small group basis.
This includes extensive career & job exploration on Springpod virtual work experience platform covering over 100 sectors/job careers, small group interactive guidance on money/budget management as part of transition into employment, CV development and interviewing techniques guidance including role plays and live practice sessions with real employers, a Q&A with a panel of employers discussing the work place, commitment to work and career development, confidence and resilience enhancing activities, support on access to further qualifications/training/functional skills of maths and English, apprenticeships and uniquely – Talent Finder Days where a wide range of employers with live entry-level jobs meet young people at Teamworks Hub to commence applications, schedule interviews and discuss roles within those organisations.

Partnerships with key stakeholders including the National Careers Service, DWP and local JCPs, Youth Services, local CiC and Charities, local faith groups supporting disadvantaged young people, local FE Colleges, WMP, alternative provision settings and a vast range of national and local businesses including Barclays, NHS Trusts, Severn Trent, Birmingham Airport, Marriott, Aldi, Pathway Group, National Express and beyond – young people attending our Hub will have unique opportunities not provided anywhere else.
Providing hands-on and practical skills, Teamworks Hub is the place to inspire and motivate young people.

“This framework for Employability skills delivery is an absolutely game changer for our disadvantaged young people, especially those with SEND and neurodiversity , mental health and former offenders, all who have the most barriers to inclusion and engagement to enter the workplace”  Regional lead at DWP

Speaking as the lead at Sport 4 Life UK, the Teamworks Karting Hub’s one-day interactive employability and life skills workshops was a breath of fresh air. It was a genuinely innovative approach to leverage the resources and facilities of the private sector to empower the VCFSE sector in engaging young people in work experience, employability, confidence, and providing crucial support against anti-social behaviour. The interactive facilities, guest speakers and content all combined to make the day both inspiring and enjoyable for our young people – not least the chance to take part in Go Karting too! It would be great to see this model be replicated and supported at local and national level – not only does it provide a pathway to ensure the sustainable and impactful use of community assets, it directly benefits the young people who need our support the most.
