If you’re lucky enough to be heading to Silverstone for the British Grand Prix this summer, you might not be aware that you’re not limited to just watching the action – at Teamworks Karting, you can join it.
Back in 1942, some very serious people made plans for a perimeter road around a wartime airfield in Northamptonshire. What they (probably) didn’t realise at the time was that they’d inadvertently sketched the outline of one of the world’s greatest race tracks. But that’s exactly what they did – and motorsports enthusiasts around the world are still grateful.
And Silverstone didn’t waste time making a name for itself. By the late ’40s it was hosting proper races, and in 1950, it became the site of Formula 1’s first-ever championship Grand Prix. Fast-forward to today, and it’s one of the fastest, most iconic circuits on the calendar. Corners like Maggotts, Becketts, and Abbey are the stuff of legend. Fast, unforgiving, and brilliant to watch (from a safe distance). The British Grand Prix is always a highlight of the season, not just because the track’s a real challenge, but because the fans turn it into a full-on motorsport carnival.
And just up the road from Silverstone, Teamworks Northampton is the place to go if watching experts demonstrate the heights of speed has got your fingers itching for a steering wheel of your very own. Our karts are state-of-the-art, proper 200cc machines that corner like they’re on rails – assuming you can keep them pointing the right way. Our track is tight and technical, one of the largest indoor tracks in the UK. And if you’re with the family, we won’t leave the littler speed demons out of the running, thanks to our junior karts, built for maximum fun and minimum drama.
If you’re looking for a last minute booking, you can get instant confirmation when you book online – show up ready to race, we’ll strap you into one of our racing suits, give you a helmet and talk you through the way our karts work. Then there’s nothing between you and the finish line but track (and your mates).
And if you’re still fired on all cylinders after you’ve completed your own personal Grand Prix? Simply step into the Simulator Racing Room and plunge into a virtual race that feels dangerously close to the real thing. Corbeau race seats, paddle-shift gears, force-feedback wheels, and massive screens – ten of them, all networked, so you can race your mates like it’s the real deal. It’s basically F1, minus the risk of hitting a wall at 180mph.
Not in Northampton? No Problem Teamworks has tracks all over the UK – Birmingham City, Birmingham West, East Midlands, Letchworth, and York. So if you’re not in town for Silverstone, you can still get your fix.
This summer, don’t just watch the icons. Chase them. Find your nearest Teamworks and make your own racing history. 🏎️🏁
