With 980,000 young people not in employment, education or training, Local Authorities have enormous challenges in how to support young people with employability skills, work experience, relevant confidence and resilience to head into employment.
Teamworks Hub has worked extensively across may Local Authorities, building local partnerships and piloting new models of integrated and innovative working, to support local disadvantaged young people.
Our innovative approach helps DWP Youth Hubs & Job Centre Plus get fuller engagement with young people. Our concept and framework development has been established in collaboration with City Councillors and Officers, Leads of DWP and National Career Service, Youth Justice Services, Youth offender support organisations, Mental Health support organisations, SEND and neurodiverse community support organisations, Office of Police Crime Commissioners & Police Forces, CiCs, Youth Services, Charities and Third Sector organisations and FE Colleges.
In Birmingham City Council alone, our delivery framework has been piloted 7 times in 2025 and already supported 350 young people into immediate and measurable destination outcomes of employment, education or training for qualifications. The transformative Teamworks Hub programme includes regular weekly sessions delving into a breadth of topics including, individual goal setting, discussions around interviewing techniques, CV development, working in a team, mental health, and financial literacy. Participants will also be registered on and be able to use Springpod’s revolutionary virtual work experience platform,
End-to-end support is included, including weekly contact, a range of training, participation incentives, interactive and fun activities such as Laser Tag and Karting plus virtual work experience and finally a “Talent Finders Day” where participants will meet employers face to face.
Teamworks Hub differs from the service delivery that has historically been offered to the NEET community in three main ways:
1. Teamworks offers a more attractive and interesting destination than the conventional types of venue that host employability training, which helps us to attract more people to engage with the programme in the first place, and remain on the programme to completion. As a fun environment, Teamworks breaks down initial barriers and nerves of attending a conventional educational setting with standard desk-based support programmes.
2. Teamworks has built partnerships with an enormous range of public and private-sector organisations, making our skills days more interesting and relevant, and giving our candidates much wider variety and experience to draw on, culminating in a unique “Talent Finders Day”, where employers with live entry-level jobs meet prospective candidates.
3. Teamworks has a large opt-in database, which we can use to attract a wider catchment of interested participants
